What is a LED sky panel?
A cloud ceiling is an LED-lit image in a suspended ceiling that is often used in offices, receptions, treatment rooms, waiting rooms, catering, etc. A cloud ceiling consists of photo panels in which the graphic image is incorporated and LED panels that provide the lighting. Not only clouds, skies and sun are used in a photo ceiling, but also images of trees, flowers or underwater.
Design choice
ISOsky has numerous designs ready for you to choose from and each one can be customized for you. Our cloud ceilings are available for suspended ceilings in the sizes 60x60 cm, 120x60 cm and 62x62 cm. Every cloud ceiling is custom designed and printed, so let us know your wishes and we will make a custom design.
Replaceable design
The LED panels that are used in cloud ceilings usually last for 15 years. But after a few years, you may want a new design. Make sure you choose a cloud ceiling in which the design is interchangeable. You can choose and order a new design over time.
Led panels
Not all LED panels are suitable for illuminating cloud ceilings. The right LED panels give a bright white light that approximates daylight as much as possible. This gives you the most realistic experience. Standard LED panels that are used in offices give slightly more yellow light and are less powerful. Other aspects that you can pay attention to are how the LED panels should be connected, for example plug & play, or with Wieland plugs or wago terminals. LED panels are energy efficient (LED A + and 35-40 Watt) so you do not have to worry about high electricity costs
Layer system of ISOsky
Our cloud ceilings are made up of several layers.
- A photo panel (4) consists of two plastic panels and a translucent foil. The high-gloss panels provide the best color depth and a realistic representation of the design.
- The LED panel (3) is placed approximately 3 centimeters above the photo panel with special T-clips (2). This creates a fully illuminated area and the LED panel is no longer visible.
- The driver (1) supplies the LED panel with low voltage power. Our high-quality drivers ensure constant light that does not flicker.

Installation
You can install most cloud ceilings yourself. You place the photo panels in the ceiling and then the LED panel lamps. Plug in the plugs and you're done. However, you cannot install a cloud ceiling with a dimming function yourself, you can read more about this below. If you do not have a system ceiling but a smooth ceiling and you want to realize a cloud ceiling, you can use a surface-mounted cassette, see no. 3 in the image below.
Dimmer
It is possible to provide a cloud ceiling with a dimming function. This allows you to continuously adjust the brightness with a remote control or dimmer button. Special drivers are required for this. Drivers are a kind of transporter that supply the LED panels with power. Installing a dimming function requires a lot more installation work and also means that you cannot do the installation yourself. Dimmers and transformers have to be connected with extra wires and often a dim button has to be built into the wall, or one received in the ceiling. You can view a cloud ceiling with dimmer in the ISOsky showroom.
Is a dimmer necessary?
A dimmer is usually not necessary. The LED panel lamps have been selected by the supplier for an optimal result. But in some situations you do want to have control over the brightness. Consider, for example, a cloud ceiling above a dental chair or other treatment chair. In any case, a cloud ceiling with a dimmer costs considerably more in terms of material and installation.
Experience and atmosphere
Cloud ceilings or photo ceilings with a creative print give a new dimension to a room. Unlike, for example, a work of art on the wall, a cloud ceiling is a luminous impression in a place that you are not used to at first. People will always respond surprisingly and it creates a certain experience. Also leave an impression with your customers or guests or create an extra atmosphere in the workplace. The choice of design largely determines the experience. Please see our wizard for a large number of examples.
